Improving the performance of airbags by adding a GSR sensor to the extrength belt – a significant development in the near future

​Galvanic skin response (GSR), is a physiological measure that can be used to monitor and assess pain. It measures the body’s involuntary, or autonomic, response to a painful stimulus through measuring the electrical conductance changes in the skin caused by sweat gland activity. As a future research project, the Extrength group aims to apply optimal localized pressure to the area of ​​back pain by adding a GSR sensor to the Extrength belt, and collecting the resulting information at the beginning of the air cushions’ activation. By collecting GSR sensor data and transferring it to AI and ML, appropriate feedback can be obtained to reduce or increase the pressure of the cushions. This project can provide the operation of the Extrength belt with a lower error rate and greater comfort for the patient.

Extrength applied a creative innovation in the mechanical function of air cushions !

As an innovative change in the performance of Extrength’s air cushions, and for more effective multi-points application of force on the involved segment in the spine, air cushions in the form of an anterior belt were added to the prototype! We are optimizing the software and hardware of this new concept to transform the force on the surface of the skin into the best and most effective treatment for the involved level. Eliminating any complications of this innovation, especially in obese or pregnant people, is the next step that we are working hard on.

The concept of the mechanical part of Extrength  part is simply seen on the 3D model of this real patient.

She is a 45-year-old woman with low back and left lower extremity pain caused by disc herniation between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae.

By applying appropriate force to appropriate areas of the patients back surface, the Extrength increases the disc space between the involved vertebrae on the left side, reducing the pressure of the herniated disc on the involved lumbar nerve root in the corresponding L4-L5 foramen.

The Extrength’s AI is progressively learning to calculate the appropriate amount of force and the appropriate location to apply it, as new data is uploaded from new patients.

High accuracy, near-zero calculation errors, safety and harmlessness, and at the same time, the effectiveness of the Extrength’s artificial intelligence are of great importance to us and are our top priorities.
